Background
The antibody HMB45 is used for the discrimination of Melanoma from normal Melanocytes. Melanoic Schwannoma Clear Cell Sarcoma will also be stained. Negative are tumours of epithelial, lymphoid, glial and mesenchymal origin. Melanocytes are pigmented, melanin containing cells being located mainly in the epidermis. They protect tissues from UVB irradiation of the sun. The antibody HMB45 reacts with fetal and neonatal Melanocytes, with junctional and blue naevus cells, but not with intradermal naevi and adult melanocytes. Neuraminidase-sensitive glycoconjugate on the surface of human melanosomes.
Source
Immunogen: Extract from lymph node metastases of melanoma
Product
Antibody solution in stabilizing phosphate buffer pH 7.3. Contains 0.09 % sodium azide**. The volume is sufficient for at least 50 immunohistochemical tests (100 µl working solution / test). Use appropriate antibody diluent e.g. BIOLOGO Art. No. PU002, if further dilution is required.
